EUMETSAT is the European operational satellite agency for monitoring weather, climate and the environment from space.

EUMETSAT’s mission control centre is located within the organisation’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.

OSC was commissioned to brand a new workplace environment for EUMETAST’s mission control that would instil confidence, improve the visual working environment for the control teams and instil pride of place.

We knew through the sciences of psychology and symbology that different colours convey different meanings and provoke different emotional responses. We strategically developed a colour palette that would generate different sensations in the perception of space, while ensuring the overall look and feel would remain consistent with the existing brand guidelines already established by OSC.

Working from the original architectural designs, OSC developed detailed 2D and 3D renderings that clearly outlined our design vision for the project. This included outlining a colour palette of each of the three operational areas, determining carpet colours and textures, and use of wood and metallic finishes. Thanks to our contribution, EUMETSAT’s control centre was successfully modernized while remaining loyal to the organisation’s established brand identity.
